I'm Baaaack!

Long Time, No Blog...

Hello everybody! Sorry for the long wait between post, it's been an ϋber busy few weeks here in TY central!

Lollipop Day, Scifest, Wesley College Choir Competition, new Green Flag, the list goes on and on!

It's been a great few weeks, so exciting! I actually can't believe the amount we've done! :o It's been so much fun, the absolute best time so far in Transition Year!
On Lollipop Day  we collected loads of money for the very worthy cause of the Oesophageal Cancer Awareness fund.
On the day of Scifest we finally got to showcase the hours of work we've poured into our Science Projects since September! Sadly, though, myself and Orlaith's fitness experiment didn't make it through to either of the two finals! :(
The same day as Scifest, after our presentations we headed off to the big bad world! The choir headed to Wesley College for our choir competition. After all our practice time with Caresse sur l'Ocean from Les Choristes, our moment had arrived! It was an amazing day out, especially the journey home on the disco bus! There was some stiff competition, and we didn't get through to the finals but we came third so we were delighted with ourselves!

Listen to the original song here!

An only yesterday, we raised our fourth green flag here in St. Wolstan's! And as a proud member of the Green Schools Committee, I was delighted, not just because of the pizza afterwards! :P

That's a round up of the latest here in TY-Land! Thanks for reading :)

Tune in after Easter for more news! :) Happy Easter, Slán!

Doctor, doctor...

I'm officially a Royal...

...College of Surgeons (work experience) student! I spent the whole of last week on a Work Experience course in RCSI, living the life of a med student. On the first day it was a brief introduction to Medicine and what Leaving Cert subjects you need to do to be accepted, etc. But the week only got better! On Tuesday, we went to Beaumont Hospital for the day and were given lectures by surgeons and doctors from the different areas of Medicine about their areas of expertise and we got shown pictures of previous c ases they'd worked on and what they did to help the people they were operating on! On Wednesday, we were in Beaumont again and we got to watch LIVE surgeries!! It was amazing! They were on a live video feed from theatre and we were able to ask the surgeons questions and they kept us updated on what they were doing. It was amazing and has really encouraged me to study medicine after secondsary school... The rest of the week was just as good and we got to look at more surgeries and talk to more doctors about Cardiology, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, Neurology and Emergency, etc.
It was an absolutely amazing week and has got me seriously considering Medicine and RCSI for college. It has helped me to narrow down  my ideas for 5th year options, which we will be choosing over the next few weeks! Eeek.

So long agus Slán :)

The End of an Era...

Once upon a Time in a classroom far far away....

...There lived a group of weird teenagers who decided to make dresses out of rubbish and recyclables and they had a strenuous time of it. And the reason for this, the almighty Junk Kouture!
These three girls worked for three months solid, filing, gluing and sewing their days away! They toiled, and fought, and moaned, but now, "it's over, it's done!" they cry. Junk Kouture has been completed and the Fashion Show will be taking place in no less than 3 days...
The dress is completed and the countdown is on! We are merely awaiting a chance to display our fabulous dress designing and enter the National competition.
I will be throwing up a few photos on here within the next day or two! :)

And they lived happily ever after with their recycled dress...

New Goal in Life...

Yes, I say Gaisce funny, get used to it! :P

As the heading would suggest, we started registering for Gaisce this week and Ms. McG is booking our hike so we've been having fun choosing activities which we will complete over the next 26 weeks to earn one of the most prestigious awards teenagers in Ireland can achieve. I'm not really sure if I've to do it though because I did it last year but something got lost in translation so I might have to start all over again! Oh the drama. Ah well, it was a bit of craic at the time, just the stress of finding out if I have to do it is a bit much!

We also have started trying to finalise our second round of Work Experience... I've been sending emails left, right and centre but to no avail so far, but I'm sure I'll get sorted sooner or later!

Also, if you want a pretty good blog to read and keep you entertained, my beloved friend Ciara is keeping a good little record of our interesting TY life. :)

Anywho that's all from me!

Christmas countdown: 25 days, you guys!

You stay classy, Sandiego! ;) Slán!

So to cheer everyone up and distract them, here's some random Christmas facts:

Ø  The biggest present ever was The Statue of Liberty.
Ø  The most sold Christmas Song is “Do They Know It’s Christmas”
Ø  The world’s biggest Christmas cracker is 181 foot, 11 inch long and 11 foot, 9 inch high and was made in Australia.
Ø  Every year, the people in the town of Gavle, in Sweden build the world’s largest goat out of straw.

I hope you all enjoyed that little pick me up!

Bond... Debating... Christmas Carols....

I'll take it shaken, not stirred...

Hello there and welcome to my blog again! I'm sorry I haven't been here in a while... Too busy having fun! :P We've had a busy fortnight here in St. Wolstan's.

Last week, we went to the Odeon Cinemas in Naas for a Mini Company workshop, but Orla (the woman giving the workshop) ended up going into hospital that morning, so guess what? We got to watch James Bond, Skyfall for free! :D It was amazing! :)

This week Ciara, Aoibhinn, and myself along with Ms. B, entered into an Irish Debating competition with Gael Linn and we were working go dian during the week to perfect our arguments and all the worked payed off as last night when we finally went to the competition we won!!! :D IT was brilliant! We were all extremely excited and can't wait for the next round which should be within the next few weeks.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Aaaaaahhhhhh!! It's nearly Christmas, guys! :D Only 39 days but it feels like it's going to fly!!! Today in orchestra with Ms. M, we started organising which songs we will be playing at this years Carol Service. I'm a little bit Christmas obsessed so this really just fanned the flames of my tacky, twinkly, tinselly addiction!

Yeah so that's it for today and hopefully things will be back to normal and I'kll be postinbg regularly again from now on! :)

So Long, Farewell, auf Wiedersen, Adieu!
